Small Actions That Make a Big Difference

As part of National Accessibility Awareness Week, the Abbotsford School District is encouraging staff and community members to take a few moments to learn more about accessibility and inclusion in everyday interactions.

Students at Thomas A. Swift Elementary School showed that big ideas can come from even the youngest learners.

This spring, Mrs. Jones’ Grade 3/4 class organized “Maylloween,” a school-wide fundraiser in support of BC Children's Hospital after learning that one of their classmates is currently receiving treatment there.

Students and staff were invited to dress up in Halloween costumes by donating $4 or more. The event raised nearly $3,000 for the hospital.

The latest Community Bulletin from the Abbotsford School District highlights great opportunities for students and families across our community. This online resource features a wide range of community events, programs, services, and activities submitted to the district to share with our families.

In line with AP 301-2 - Access to Students, our Community Bulletin is dedicated to fostering connections that enrich and enhance student learning and well-being.

At ASIA Sumas, graduation is more than a milestone. It is an opportunity for students to reflect on who they are, where they are headed and what matters most to them.

Abbotsford Traditional School (ATS) teacher Dayle Thiessen was featured this school year by the BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation (BCAITC) as part of its Teacher Champion series, which highlights educators who are passionate about agriculture and food education.

Andrea Wildeman has spent 27 years serving students and staff in the Abbotsford School District, first as a teacher and now as Principal at Dormick Park Elementary School. Over nearly three decades, the relationships she has built and the support she has received along the way have helped shape a career rooted in connection, care and lifelong learning.

These remarkable educators, selected through nominations from our community members, exemplify dedication and passion for nurturing the minds of our students. 

How students experience math matters. Across the Abbotsford School District, educators are helping students build confidence in numeracy through hands-on, collaborative, and engaging learning experiences.

Building on the BC curriculum, the district’s numeracy framework supports students in developing deeper understanding by encouraging them to think critically, communicate their reasoning, explore different strategies, and apply math to real-life situations.
