Students and staff at Robert Bateman Secondary School marked International Women’s Day by dressing as Rosie the Riveter, recognizing the contributions of women who entered the workforce during the 1940s while many men were away serving in the war.

The iconic red bandana has come to symbolize the strength, resilience and determination of women. By wearing it, the school community honoured the legacy of women who helped shape industries, communities and opportunities for future generations.

Across the Abbotsford School District, educators are working together to ensure every student is supported and moving forward in their learning. One of the ways schools are doing this is through FACES on the Data, a collaborative process that keeps real students, not just numbers, at the centre of decision-making.

The spring season is approaching which means warmer weather and more outdoor activities. It’s also an opportunity to foster new healthy habits for our children. Here are five practical tips for school-aged kids to make the most of this season.

École Clearbrook Elementary recently brought a taste of winter tradition to the school community during its annual Carnaval de Québec celebration.

Throughout the week, students took part in festive activities that celebrated French culture and community spirit. Highlights included a PAC-hosted pancake breakfast, where families and staff gathered to enjoy a warm start to the day, as well as a special visit from Bonhomme, a beloved symbol of Carnaval.

Schools across the Abbotsford School District were filled with pink today as students and staff united to stand against bullying and promote kindness, respect, and inclusion.

At McMillan Elementary School, members of the Joy and Kindness Club began the morning with colourful chalk art at the front of the school, reminding everyone walking in that kindness is cool. Their messages set the tone for Pink Shirt Day and reflected the heart behind their club’s work.

For more than three decades, Dean Fetterly has been a familiar and steady presence at Abbotsford Senior Secondary. Now in his 33rd year with the Abbotsford School District, Dean reflects on a career shaped by relationships, opportunity, and a deep sense of belonging.

District staff members came together for our annual Shared Learning Conference, a powerful day of professional growth and collaboration focused on student success.

This year’s keynote speaker, Dr. Keith Carlson, Professor of History at the University of the Fraser Valley and a Tier One Canada Research Chair in Indigenous and Community-Engaged History, challenged district staff to think differently about the stories we tell and the perspectives we centre in our work.

A mural titled Happiness After the Storm now welcomes students and staff at Rick Hansen Secondary School. Created through the leadership of a dedicated teacher and in collaboration with students from the RHSS Pride Alliance, the mural is a powerful visual reflection of representation, community, and hope.

The mural spans four panels, each representing a season of the year. Together, they tell a story of celebration and resilience across communities that have historically been underrepresented or marginalized.
